Send an email with delivery options
Send an email with delivery options
When composing an email, you can activate additional sending options. The options are shown below the recipient fields as selectable buttons.
Add attachments
Add files in the Attachments field with Add. The dialog lets you select a local file or a file already stored in eclipso Drive and confirm it with OK. You can also drag local files into the compose area.Which sending options are available?
- Visiting card: Adds your saved contact card as a VCF file.
- Certified mail: Sends the message through the certified email service. This is not the same as a read receipt.
- Request receipt: Adds a request to the recipient's mail client. The recipient decides whether a receipt is sent back.
- Encryption: Encrypts the message with PGP or S/MIME when the feature is enabled and a suitable key or certificate is available.
- Digitally sign: Adds a digital signature. It confirms the origin and integrity of the message, but does not automatically encrypt its content.
- Attach PGP key: Adds the selected sender's public key as an ASC file so the recipient can import it.
Request receipt or certified mail?
A read receipt is only a request to the recipient's email program. It is not guaranteed and does not prove delivery or that the message was read. Certified email uses a separate delivery and evidence process. Certified email cannot be activated at the same time as encryption.Important notes
- Before sending, check that the desired option is visible and enabled.
- For encryption, suitable public keys or certificates must be available for all recipients.
- A digital signature is not a replacement for encryption.
- An attached business card contains the contact details stored in your account. Check these details regularly.
